DIY fix — no technician neededVerified by FixOffice
Meeting room TV switches inputs by itself (HDMI-CEC)
Applies to: Samsung (Anynet+), LG (Simplink) and other CEC-enabled displays
What this error means
Samsung documents this directly: HDMI-CEC (their brand name: Anynet+) lets devices command the TV — and a chatty or buggy device (a streaming stick, a room PC waking from sleep) will yank the display to its own input mid-presentation. Documented fixes: update firmware on the TV and the offending device, or turn off the auto-switching behavior.
Symptoms
- Display jumps to another input during meetings
- TV turns on/off by itself
- Started after adding a new device
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Identify the culprit: which device was added or updated most recently?
- Update TV firmware and the device's firmware — Samsung explicitly documents buggy CEC devices being fixed this way
- If it persists, disable CEC/Anynet+ (Samsung: Settings → General → External Device Manager → Anynet+) — you lose one-remote convenience, gain meeting stability
- In dedicated conference rooms, disabling CEC is usually the right trade
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
When to call a technician
Not a service issue — it's configuration.
