Half the kitchenette outlets are dead — find the tripped GFCI
Documented and endlessly rediscovered: one GFCI outlet protects a whole string of ordinary outlets downstream — a fault at any of them trips the one GFCI, killing every outlet on the string. The downstream outlets are supposed to carry 'GFCI-protected' stickers; the stickers fall off. So the dead outlet by the coffee maker is often cured by a reset button in the restroom, another room, or behind the fridge.
Breaker keeps tripping — the safe protocol (and the one forbidden fix)
The documented safe sequence: unplug everything on the circuit, reset the breaker once, then re-add loads one at a time until the culprit reveals itself (it's usually the space heater sharing a circuit with the microwave). Escalate to an electrician if it trips with nothing plugged in, re-trips immediately, or anything smells burnt. And the forbidden fix, stated plainly: never install a bigger breaker — breakers are sized to protect the wiring, and upsizing one turns overload protection into a slow-motion fire.
