What this error means
The scan carriage failed to home — stuck carriage, shipping lock, belt, or sensor.
Symptoms
- Copy/scan dead, printing OK
- Noise under the platen glass
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Check for a scanner shipping lock and set to unlocked
- Look under the glass for obstructions
- Power cycle
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
