Sharp H5-01 — Repeated fusing-area jam lockout

Applies to: MX / AR series

What this error means

The machine detected multiple consecutive jams at the fusing area and locked itself out as a safety measure. Famous for persisting after the actual jam is cleared — it requires a reset, not just jam removal.

Symptoms

  • H5-01 after clearing a jam
  • Machine refuses to run despite a clear path

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

  1. Re-check the fusing area carefully for small torn fragments — the lockout usually means something was missed
  2. Power off at the main switch, wait 60 seconds, power on
  3. If your dealer has shown you the model's documented user reset for H5, use it once — never repeatedly

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.

When to call a technician

If the code returns after a clean path and reset — the fusing unit's paper sensors or the fuser itself need service.
