Sharp H5-01 — Repeated fusing-area jam lockout
Applies to: MX / AR series
What this error means
The machine detected multiple consecutive jams at the fusing area and locked itself out as a safety measure. Famous for persisting after the actual jam is cleared — it requires a reset, not just jam removal.
Symptoms
- H5-01 after clearing a jam
- Machine refuses to run despite a clear path
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Re-check the fusing area carefully for small torn fragments — the lockout usually means something was missed
- Power off at the main switch, wait 60 seconds, power on
- If your dealer has shown you the model's documented user reset for H5, use it once — never repeatedly
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
When to call a technician
If the code returns after a clean path and reset — the fusing unit's paper sensors or the fuser itself need service.
