Keurig K-3500 (the office one) — what its messages mean
Applies to: Keurig K-3500 commercial brewer
What this error means
The plumbed commercial Keurig speaks plain English, not error codes: 'Please connect the brewer to a water source' (supply issue — check the shutoff valve), 'Please empty the pod bin', 'No pod detected', 'Descale' (sensor-triggered), 'Brewer is heating.' Two facts offices should know: Keurig's own guide states the K-3500 is NOT user-serviceable beyond cleaning and descaling — service goes through an authorized distributor — and the warranty expects the specified water filter and descaling every 3–6 months or 500 brews. Third-party sites list numbered 'Keurig error codes' for it; those aren't in the official documentation.
Symptoms
- Message on the display
- No water/heating
- Descale prompt
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Water-source message: check the inline shutoff valve and filter aren't closed/clogged
- Empty the pod bin fully (the sensor needs it seated)
- Descale on the official schedule — it's a documented warranty expectation
- Log recurring messages before calling the distributor
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
When to call a technician
Anything beyond cleaning/descaling — Keurig commercial support (1-888-287-BREW) or your coffee service distributor. That's per Keurig's own manual, not caution on our part.
