HP 33.02.01 — 'Used board/disk installed' (not a defect!)

What this error means

The most misdiagnosed message on FutureSmart printers: an encrypted disk/board from ANOTHER printer was installed — expected behavior after any board or disk replacement, not a fault. Select OK to erase and re-pair it (several reboots, ~10 minutes) and it never returns.

Symptoms

• Message right after a formatter/disk replacement
• Repeating banner if 'Exit' was chosen

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

1. Select OK/Continue at the prompt — the printer erases and re-initializes the storage
2. Let it run its reboots (~10 min)
3. Don't return the 'faulty' part — it isn't

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
