HP 60.x — Tray lift error

What this error means

Tray X couldn't lift its paper stack to the feed position — the number is the tray (60.2 = tray 2). The signature is a thumping or clicking from the tray. Obstructions and overfilled trays cause many; worn lift gears the rest.

Symptoms

• Thumping/clicking from a tray
• One tray erroring, others fine

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

1. Pull the tray fully out; clear any stray sheets/objects in the cavity
2. Load below the max-fill line; seat the tray firmly
3. Power cycle

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.

Recurring with a clean cavity — lift motor service.
