HP 69.x — Duplexer error
Applies to: LaserJet / LaserJet Enterprise series
What this error means
A duplex (two-sided printing) mechanism fault — classed by HP as a 'temporary' error, so one occurrence means nothing. Recurrence points at the duplexer, which on most models is a slide-out unit you can reseat yourself.
Symptoms
- Two-sided jobs failing
- One-off vs recurring matters
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Power cycle
- Remove and reseat the duplexer unit (usually slides out of the back)
- Recurring: the duplexer itself is failing — replaceable as a unit
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
When to call a technician
Duplexer replacement if recurring — modest part on most models.
