Toshiba CA10/CA20 — Laser unit errors

Applies to: Toshiba e-STUDIO series

What this error means

CA10 = polygon motor abnormal; CA20 = laser sync (H-SYNC) detection failure — both live in the laser optical unit and both usually end in its replacement. One power cycle, then service.

Symptoms

  • Code via 8+Clear/Stop
  • Whine change before failure

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

  1. Power cycle once
  2. Report the code

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.

When to call a technician
