Toshiba e-STUDIO says 'Call for Service' — how to read the actual code
Applies to: Toshiba e-STUDIO series
What this error means
Toshiba's panel often shows only 'Call for Service' — but the machine knows exactly what's wrong. Press [8] and [Clear/Stop] together to display the stored code. The alphabet: C-codes are hardware faults, E-codes are jams (yours to clear), F-codes are system faults, CA-codes are laser unit. Get the code before calling — it changes the conversation.
Symptoms
- 'Call for Service' with no code shown
- Wanting to sound informed on the service call
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Press [8] + [Clear/Stop] together; write down the code
- Look it up in our Toshiba guides
- E-codes: clear the jam yourself; C/F/CA codes: that's the service call
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
When to call a technician
C/F/CA codes are service-level by design.
