Xerox 010-397 — Fuser failure

What this error means

The fuser unit failed a temperature/operation check. As with all fuser-class faults, the machine locks out for safety.

Symptoms

• Stops at warm-up
• Error returns after restart

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

1. Power off 60 seconds, power on once
2. If your model has a customer-replaceable fuser module (many WorkCentre/AltaLink do), reseat it — and note fuser modules are orderable parts

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.

When to call a technician

On recurrence — fuser module replacement; on Xerox many offices can do this themselves as the fuser is a customer-replaceable unit on numerous models.
