Xerox 077-900 — Paper remaining in path

What this error means

A path sensor still detects paper after a jam was cleared — a missed fragment or a stuck sensor flag.

Symptoms

  • Jam message won't clear despite no visible paper
  • Message returns on every power-up

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

  1. Open every door/tray including the duplex unit; sweep the path with a flashlight for torn corners
  2. Gently flick visible sensor flags (small plastic levers in the path) to check they move freely
  3. Power cycle with all doors closed

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.

If no fragment can be found and the message persists — a sensor has failed.
