Panasonic H and F codes, decoded

Applies to: Panasonic mini-splits

What this error means

The map: H-codes lean sensor/communication — H11 comm (see its guide), H14 indoor intake sensor, H16 low current draw (CT circuit or low refrigerant), H19 indoor fan motor locked (check for obstruction — the one safe DIY), H23 indoor pipe sensor. F-codes lean protection trips: F11 four-way valve (cooling/heating reversed), F90 inverter/PFC protection, F91 refrigeration cycle (the famous 'low gas'), F93 compressor rotation, F95 condenser overheat (dirty outdoor coil — gently cleaning debris off it IS DIY), F96 power module overheat, F97 discharge temp, F98/F99 overcurrent protection.

Symptoms

  • Any H/F code from the CHECK diagnostic
  • Cooling weak or reversed (F11/F91 territory)

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

  1. Run the CHECK-button diagnosis to get the exact code
  2. H19: look for fan obstructions before anything
  3. F95: power off and gently rinse debris/dirt off the outdoor coil
  4. Almost everything else: technician with the code — refrigerant work is EPA-licensed

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.

When to call a technician

Sensors, valves, boards, refrigerant — service territory throughout.
