Epson 0x10 — Scanner unit failure

What this error means

The scanner mechanism won't initialize — on several WorkForce models a known terminal fault. Worth knowing: printing often still works via the driver even with the scanner dead, which buys time for the replacement decision.

Symptoms

• Scan functions dead
• WF-3520/3620/3640 family

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

1. Check for debris obstructing the scanner carriage under the glass
2. Hold the power button ~60 seconds unplugged (full drain), retry
3. If it persists: keep printing via computer; plan replacement

Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
