Ricoh SC302 — Charge output error
Applies to: Aficio / MP / IM series (and Savin, Lanier equivalents)
What this error means
The charge system faulted — commonly a dirty/worn charge roller or poor drum-unit (PCU) contact, sometimes the high-voltage supply. Reseating the PCU and cleaning its contacts resolves a real share.
Symptoms
- Dirty/streaked prints beforehand
- Error after a drum/PCU change
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Power off; remove and reseat the drum unit (PCU); clean its electrical contacts gently
- Power cycle
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
When to call a technician
Persisting — charge roller/HV supply service.
