Ricoh SC400/SC401 — Transfer output error
Applies to: Aficio / MP / IM series (and Savin, Lanier equivalents)
What this error means
The transfer system (roller/belt bias) faulted or leaked current — worn or dirty transfer components, poor unit seating, or the HV supply. Reseat and clean before service. (On some older models SC400 maps differently — the label on your model governs.)
Symptoms
- Patchy/failed toner transfer beforehand
- Error after replacing transfer parts
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Power off; reseat the transfer unit and PCU; clean visible contacts
- Power cycle
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
