The main drive motor stalled — and the cause is very often a missed paper fragment binding the drive train, which makes this one genuinely worth user triage before the service call.
Symptoms
- Grinding/click then stop
- Followed a paper jam
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Open everything and hunt torn paper fragments — including the fuser area and behind the drum unit
- Reseat toner/drum units
- Power cycle
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
