Ricoh SC816 — Energy saver (sleep/wake) error

What this error means
A fault in the sleep/wake subsystem — very common on newer MP C and IM C machines, and usually a firmware issue rather than hardware. Power cycle to clear; a firmware update is the durable fix.
Symptoms
- Machine hangs entering/leaving sleep
- Newer IM/MP C series
- Recurs every few days
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Power off at the main switch, 2 minutes, on
- Ask your dealer/IT to apply the latest firmware — SC816-class bugs are actively patched
- Note the sub-code (e.g., -36) for the ticket
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.
