Canon E261 — Zero-cross (power) signal error

What this error means
The machine isn't detecting a clean AC power signal. Frequently an environment problem, not a machine problem: power strips, UPSs, shared circuits, or a failing outlet. Rule the power source out before anyone replaces boards.
Symptoms
- Random shutdowns with E261
- Machine on a power strip/UPS
- Building had power work recently
Try this first (safe DIY steps)
- Plug the copier directly into a known-good wall outlet — never a strip or UPS
- Power cycle
- If it persists on clean power, it's a board issue — book service
Safety: power off before any physical intervention. Never bypass covers or interlocks — fuser areas run hot enough to burn.

On recurrence with verified clean power — DC controller/AC driver diagnosis.
