Canon E730 — PDL/print controller software error

What this error means

The print controller software faulted — 'no reply from PDL' — or communication with an external print controller (imagePASS) failed. The detail code matters: some variants are firmware, some are the external controller connection.

Symptoms

• Printing dead, copying works
• Machine has an external Fiery/imagePASS controller
• Appeared after a firmware or network change

Try this first (safe DIY steps)

1. Full restart (main switch, 2 minutes)
2. If an external controller is attached, restart it too and check its cable
